OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE for TUTORS TO TEACH THE CHILDREN

The Learning Centre is accepting applications for tutors who wish to volunteer a few hours each week and obtain Certification as an Orton-Gillingham tutor.

Tutors will assist in presenting the Orton-Gillingham approach to children with dyslexia.

The Learning Centre program uses one-on-one tutoring with trained and certified tutors.

Children attend two, one hour tutoring sessions each week, over a period roughly equivalent to the elementary school schedule of teaching. Children will generally require a period of three years to complete the entire program.

This is an ideal opportunity for men and women who have previous experience in working with children or in social services.

Retirees have discovered they can make a useful contribution to the community in this way.

Tutors receive compensation and expenses during the training period.

An annual Tutor Appreciation Night is held in June. A Graduation Ceremony for the children is held in October.

The Learning Centre has a proven record of success of opening doors of wonder and opportunity for its graduates.
